Conifer, CO |
In 1988 I was diagnosed with a grapefruit sized osteo sarcoma tumor in my hip. During the surgery to remove this cancer I lost my left iliac crest and a major portion of my hip socket. Any other doctor on the planet would have removed my entire left leg as well (because I no longer had a viable hip socket) but Dr. Malawer had engineered a unique technique for reattaching my leg by anchoring the bone to ligaments, sparing me the loss of limb. I am forever grateful for his amazing ingenuity.
