Board certification should be one of your top considerations when choosing a doctor. Board certification is an official recognition given to doctors who have met specific requirements set by national medical specialty boards in the United States.
Board certification indicates that a doctor is highly qualified in the medical field in which he or she practices. A board-certified doctor is more likely than a non-board-certified doctor to have the most current skills and knowledge about how to treat your medical condition.
My expertise is in the subspeciaty of vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. The most common of these conditions are age-related macular degenrtion, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachmens, vascular occlusions, and other sight-threatening conditions of the back of the eye.
Many vitreoretinal treatments ar now performed in the office, such as intravitreal injections nd lasers. Some require microscopic vitrectomy surgery that is now small gauge and many times sutureless. Vitrectomies are performed in the hospital or outpatient surgery centers and patients go home on the same day.
I have been performing vitreoretinal procedures for more than 20 years. Many procedures we can perform in the office setting like:
Pars plana vitrectomies and scleral buckles are performed in the hospital or outpatient surgery ceters.

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

I am a board certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty fellowship training in vitreoretinal disease and surgery. I have been in private practice since 1999 in Glendale, California. I specialize in all conditions that affect the back of the eye like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degenration, retinal tears and detachments, vascular occlusions and other sight-threatening diseases. I performed intravitreal injections and lasers in my office. Microscopic vitrectomy surgery I performed at Glendale Memorial Hospital, Physicians' Adventist Surgery Center and Chevy Chase Surgery Center.
I have received many accolades but the most rewarding is when I see my patients' gratitude reflected in their eyes.
Helping my patients restore and preserve their vision by overcoming sight-threatening conditions eclipses any academic recognition or awards. One cannot describe the satisfaction of recovering vision lost to such conditions as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachments and other retinal diseases. I pride myself in being a caring and honest professional. My philosophy is to treat others the way I would want my own family to be treated.
