Truly outstanding. I have been to several of the highest rated psychiatric care institutions in this country, yet have never made as much progress as I have with Dr. Shukhman. His knowledge of psychopharmacology is unparalleled. His persistence and encouragement have helped me turn my life around!

I have been a patient of Dr. Shukhman for several years. He has always been a very caring and concerned doctor. He is very knowledgeable about any questions I have about the latest trends in Psychiatry. The doctor is always on time for my appointments and ready to listen. He has a great sense of humor and seems to be such a kind person. I have witnessed Dr's patients exiting his office with him, laughing and smiling. It's obvious he has a great relationship with his patients. HE'S A GREAT DR!

Procedures Performed

Dr. Shukhman says..

treatment of mood and anxiety disorders: "second opinion" clinic; treatment of "medication-naïve" and treatment resistant cases.

treatment of chronic pain syndrome with buprenorphine and supportive medications;

in-office induction and detoxification. Treatment of POWS:

most of my patients had no history of addiction before they were introduced to pain medications after a trauma or a surgery. After while, they realized they cannot stop the medication ... If you are one of them, you know the rest of the story. I almost never had to hospitalize my patients for detox - it can be comfortably done at your home with the instructions provided and guidance from the nurse available to lead you through the process. After narcotics are stopped, patients usually experience prolonged post opioid withdrawal syndrome (POWS). With the help of additional medications, we can expedite recovery.

other addictions: alcohol, benzodiazepines

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
