Dr. Pinkerton's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Pinkerton "Dr. Mark Pinkerton is an Anesthesiologist who completed his Pain Management Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He helped found a Surgery and Pain Center in Nebraska until accepting a position as the Director of Pain at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri. He moved to the Kansas City area with his family in 2011 after the devastating tornado in Joplin. He has practiced pain management full time since 1996. He enjoys the challenge of treating pain, and the hope that comes form moving patients away from opioid medications to sustainable life changes. He believes in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Dr. Pinkerton loves living in the Kansas City area, partly because it's close to his first grandson! In his free time he likes to bicycle, hunt, drink coffee, grill and hang out with his large family. "

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Pinkerton "Our goal is to get you comfortable to get you back to exercise and life.Pain is a very personal journey that can seem hopeless at times.  Dr. Pinkerton wealth of knowledge and experience can give patients a glimpse of hope.  We help patients by empowering them with the knowledge of how to manage their pain through a host of different tools–healing instead of masking pain.  Dr. Pinkerton is well versed in therapeutic injections, Stem Cell therapy and much more (please see below for more information).  However we understand there are patients who seek different forms of treatment.  We believe strongly that medications sometimes have a place in pain management but due to the danger of addiction and dependency,  we work with patients to reduce their medication so other forms of treatment can truly help them manage pain.   Dr. Pinkerton or Stephanie will discuss our philosophy on opioids at your fist visit"

Patient Comments (1)

Dr. Pinkerton is friendly and knowledgeable. He has a strict philosophy on not just giving away narcotics. I appreciate his diligence given the national crisis. He tries other options instead of just handing out pills. It seems like some of the other reviewers had difficulty accepting that pain...more
