This content was provided by Dr. Omlie "Dr. Mark Omlie received his undergraduate Humanities Degree from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts. He went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1974. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in 1976 and completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University in 1979. Dr. Omlie was one of the first oral and maxillofacial surgeons to achieve the MD degree as part of his oral and maxillofacial training. Upon completion of his residency, he joined Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Consultants. Dr. Omlie is the long-time president of the Twin City Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Study Club and past president of the Minneapolis District Dental Society, the Bloomington Study Club and the Minnetonka Study Club. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota's School of Dentistry, in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His volunteer work includes Sharing and Caring Hands, Project Homeless, Mission of Mercy and Give Kids a Smile. Dr. Omlie is also a CPR instructor and has done numerous presentations to local dental study clubs. He has published works in medical literature in the area of temporomandibular disorders and TMJ imaging. He has also authored a chapter in the textbook of Practical Oral Surgery edited by Dr. Daniel E. Waite. Originally from Wayzata, Minnesota, Dr. Omlie and his wife Joey have been long-time residents of Eden Prairie. His wife Joey is also a dentist. Dr. Omlie is board certified and a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, but his area of particular interest is orthognathic reconstructive jaw surgery. Outside of work, Dr. Omlie enjoys attending various study clubs and continuing education meetings. He enjoys spending time with his four grown children and grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys downhill skiing, studying world history, exercising, and reading.
