Dr. McMahon has enjoyed practicing orthopaedics for 30 years. After graduating with a BA from the University of Oregon, Dr. McMahon went on to earn his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. He began his medical training with 3 years of general surgery residency at the University of Oregon, then one year of orthopaedic research at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center. He then completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Southern California. Before moving to Northern Virginia, he spent three years in private practice in the Los Angeles area. There, he served as an instructor of adult reconstructive surgery at the University of Southern California and contributed to a textbook chapter on the topic of surgical treatment of the arthritic knee.
