Dr. McMahon in the last year, did 2 anterior total hip placements for me - my right hip in Feb. 2020 and my left hip in December 2020. It is not possible for me to say enough good things about Dr. McMahon. These hip replacements changed the quality of my life. He is knowledgeable, professional and clearly extraordinarily skilled. I would highly recommend Dr. McMahon to my family and friends. If you want the best orthopedic surgeon in Northern Virginia you should choose Dr. McMahon. You well not regret it.

He's very nice! Tells it like it is. Doesn't sugar coat things. He explained what was realistic for possible improvement in my situation and I appreciated his honesty. His staff is nice too! Especially Monica who handled the surgery scheduling. Would highly recommend Dr. McMahon!

Dr McMahon successfully replaced both my hips. The second surgery was very recent. He is thorough in every aspect and is active in his team's contributions to me as patient. He is outstanding. If he indeed retires it will be a great loss to ortho- medicine. If you need ortho surgery capitalize on his availability for another year-plus! Wm Coy

Dr. M. McMahon consistently walks on water every time I come to see him for my knees. Unfortunately, I am afraid he may be looking into retiring by the end of this year, which will be a loss to their VA ortho practice shop.

Within the past year Dr. Mark McMahon has replaced one of my hip joints and repaired a total knee replacement that another surgeon (not in his practice) had failed to do correctly. My outcomes on both these sets of surgeries have been excellent and many friends and family members have been impressed at how swiftly I have recovered. He is not only extremely pleasant and highly capable, but I never feel rushed because he is always ready to answer my questions until my concerns are fully dealt with. (On occasion I have had to wait past my appointment time but that is almost certainly because he gives every patient as much time as each individual person needs.) Dr. McMahon's P.A., Andrea Lauber, exhibits many of the same characteristics of cheerful competence and thus together they are a terrific team. I will certainly return to Dr. McMahon for any future orthopedic surgery needs I might have, and I recommend him without reservation.

Dr. MCMahon always takes precious time to fully explain the diagnoses, test results, and the situation with me. I am most appreciative of his honest, compationate, and clear delivery of information. He is thorough and says when he may not have answers but gives a path to find the answers.

Dr. McMahon performed an arthroscopic labral hip debridement to rid me of some debilitating symptoms (hip locking/catching, un-predictable lightening bolt-like pain), which were affecting my ability to walk, which my job requires. Following the surgery, I quickly realized the procedure provided what I had hoped it would: Nearly pain-free range of motion in my hip, and I was able to walk a mile in a very short period of time. No more lightening bolt pain! Top notch medical professionals from beginning to end. Would highly recommend Dr. McMahon and his very qualified team!

Dr. McMahon listens to me, understands me and my goals (mainly to stay active). His mind is not set on a solution before he ever talks with me, as so many other doctors have been. He understands I know my body. He did a great job with my knee surgery, and all follow up maintenance since.

Dr McMahon repaired my torn meniscus. Before the surgery I was in a lot of pain and felt as though my knee wouldn't support me on stairs. When I woke after surgery my pain had dropped to almost zero. It's been two weeks and the only discomfort is from the incisions. I'm expecting a 100% recovery.

Dr. McMahon will make you very comfortable in the knowledge of hip replacement. Which is what I had done. Starting my third week now with a cane. Will be starting PT soon. I feel improvements even over the surgery from my prior movement before so I am understanding any discomfort is from the trauma of surgery. Each passing day is a bit better than the day before. My meds will now only be cut down to taking them to get sleep and maybe a bit for the Physical Therapy that most likey will result in some muscle pain. I am on the mend and that's a huge relief thanks to Dr. McMahon. A bedside manner that's just what was needed.
