Dr. Hartley is my go-to for orthopaedic care. I have been to the OR with him 6 times for different joints (knee, hip, shoulder) and always come home 100% satisfied. As an RN myself, I appreciate the quality of care he and his practice provide. I trust him fully, and highly recommend him.

Dr. Hartley managed my knee issue and in the end a surgery was needed. Process was smooth and the surgery went well. Dr. Hartley has always been good communicating procedures or issues with me. Dr. Hartley also has operated on my friend. My friend has had the same positive experience. I like the way Dr. Hartley discusses the issue and works to help you understand the necessary course of action and options available. He made me feel comfortable about surgery.

It went very smooth and friendly .?He treated us with respect and dignity . Took time to ask about what happened and review the x-ray for my daughter who has ankle fracture during school sports. Gave her instructions on what to do and what not to do . We arrived kind of late,Since my daughter has troubles to walk her fractured ankle .but with his humanity still made time to see us

Dr. Hartley is a knowledgeable & compassionate surgeon, but his PA, Mary Carter, hamstrings him. His PA fields pt portal messages for the Dr, but lacks both knowledge & attention to detail; I had an abnormal response to an invasive, in-office procedure, & gave a detailed explanation of the signs & symptoms via portal DM. (I am an experienced surgeon, and therefore am well aware of what constitutes an abnormal response.) While one must anticipate that any invasive procedure has innate risks attached, the clinical staff should address patients’ concerns with diligent attention to symptomatology reported by the patient. Ms. Carter glossed over specific info I’d provided, issued generic advice & told me to return in 1-2 weeks if my concerns didn’t resolve. An abnormal reaction to a procedure should be addressed with a sense of urgency commensurate with the reaction. Ms. Carter’s incompetent knowledge base & laissez faire attitude is cause enough for me to drop OrthoVA & Dr Hartley’s care.
