Mark Gunst, MD, is a general surgeon in the Dignity HealthMedical Group Chandler RegionalMedical Center Trauma andGeneral Surgery Clinic. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery for general surgery and surgical critical care. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Gunst's expertise includes trauma surgery,surgical critical care, acute care surgery, and general surgery. Dr. Gunst served 13 years as an active dutyAir Force surgeon. While in the Air Force, he was the Associate Medical Director of Trauma andAcute Care Surgery at San Antonio Military MedicalCenter. He previously served as Associate Chief ofTrauma and Emergency Surgery at Wilford HallUSAF Medical Center. He was Chief of Trauma at the Air Force Role 3 combat hospitals in Iraq (2009)and Afghanistan (2011) and has participated in humanitarian training missions for foreign military surgeons in Chile and Pakistan.
Dr. Gunst received his medical degree from TexasTech University. He completed his residency at DavidGrant Medical Center/University of California DavisMedical Center, Travis AFB and then completed aFellowship at The University of Texas SouthwesternMedical Center. During his fellowship training, he also received a master's degree in Public Health.
