Care Philosophy

As a Physician and Surgeon taking care of spinal disorders, I believe the patient should understand the natural history of their condition, which generally favors nonoperative care. The patient should have as much of my time as needed to make informed decisions regarding their care, whether nonoperative or operative. I truly believe quality of care trumps volume!

h did back surgery on my 76 year old husband, came out told me my husband should be up and home in 2 days, 3 weeks my husband can't walk or move, pain, he refuses to talk or tell me why, medical bill sooooooo high I'll never be able to pay. what surgeon dos this?? leaves the patient In the dark, no follow up, nothing.
Gibsonia, PA |
Dr. Fye seemed to be generally too concerned with patients needing surgery to express any kind of real concern for patients in need of non-surgical care like physical therapy or pain management. I got the impression that he did not understand why I had come to him. I sought his expertise as an orthopedist due to the two disc herniations and spinal curvature (moderate S-curve scoliosis) as well as pain in my cervical spine. He was mostly focused on doing more surgery business - not patients.

Dismissive. Uninterested. Didn't matter two other doctors found something. He didn't even want to see the reports from them. Dozens of tests ignored. He glanced at one and determined he knew it all and I left with no assistance. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy

I had been suffering for months with back and leg pain, unable to sleep in a prone position. After trying every known remedy, and many trips to a chiropractor, someone recommended Dr. Fye. After looking at my MRI, he said I had a herniated disc and he could fix it. Had the surgery two weeks ago Monday, woke up painless and was walking later that day. I also had zero pain from the incision. Visited Dr. Fye yesterday and he cleared me for normal activity. Would I recommend him? Absolutely.

First, I am suffering tears at L5 and S1,so disc material is missing. My experience with Dr. Fye? After waiting 40 minutes I was given approximately 30 seconds of his time. He walked in took a passing glance at the computer monitor showing a still caption of my MRI and said; I see a disc bulge, stay away from surgeons. I'm still in severe pain.... Does he think ignoring me is funny?
