This content was provided by Dr. Faries "Raised in Central Pennsylvania, Dr. Faries comes from a family of physicians. He began working in operating rooms while in high school, and continues to enjoy the technical challenges of that environment. He received his undergraduate education at Haverford College and his medical degree at Cornell. In medical school he was awarded the Clarence C. Coryell Prize in Surgery and Medicine for having attained the highest performance in surgery there. His general surgical training was at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he received the Leonard Perloff Chief Resident Award. His surgical oncology fellowship was at the John Wayne Cancer Institute under his mentor Donald L. Morton, MD. After graduation he was a member of the faculty at the John Wayne Cancer Institute and at the Yale School of Medicine. He is now the Head of Surgical Oncology at The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute and Surgical Director for Experimental Therapeutics at Cedars Sinai. He serves as a member of the AJCC Melanoma Staging Committee, the American Society of Clinical Oncology Melanoma /Sentinel Node Guidelines Committee, and the Editorial Board of the Annals of Surgical Oncology.
