Seems Trauma Informed
So glad she is trauma informed. I’ve been avoiding a checkup for over a decade because of past trauma. When Dr. Shiode saw on my papers that I have PTSD, she very gently asked if my trauma involved any sexual abuse (it did) and she gave me the option to come in a different day when I would be more mentally prepared. During the examination, she was very informative about what she would be doing and why. She showed me in advance all the tools she’d be using and how they worked, and told me step by step what she would be doing. She gave me gentle warnings about what I would be feeling next so that nothing would catch me off guard. Listened to my concerns and gave me explanations about each of the possible diagnosis on the first visit. Definitely will be staying under this doctor’s care in the future.

Don’t expect to hear about your test results! I had blood work done in the WHASN office, ordered by Dr. Shiode. It was to test for Down syndrome during my pregnancy. This is a test that I would have liked to receive the results for, because it can be stressful info to wait on. I never received any info on these tests, and could not get through to speak to anyone on the phone, after leaving 2 voicemails. I had the staff print my medical records for my doctor transfer, and that is when I finally saw my test results. I have other instances of a lack of communication that are related to other doctors from WHASN; do not expect reasonable communication from this doctor’s office.
