What People Say About Dr. Marcelo Lopez-Claros, MD

Dr. Lopez is just plain not too bright and coocoo to beat. Stay as far away from him as you can! He never seemed to be able to understand what I was saying (he admitted that part of that was his lack of intelligence which I did not share), when he did catch on he often accused me of lying or exaggerating although it would have been obvious to a normal person that I was struggling to tell him something it was hard for me to talk about. He even told me I was obsessed with sex and needed to give it up when I stopped taking a certain medication because it made me unable to have orgasms. Save yourself! Stay away from him!

He was my doctor at Holly Hill for one week and didn't care what I thought about my diagnosis. I saw 2 psychiatrists within a week of being released and they both saw absolutely no grounds for a diagnosis of bipolar. That being said, almost everyone in my unit ended up diagnosed with bipolar so maybe that's just his thing. I also had suicidal ideations and he treated them, in the words of my psychologist "In the absolute worst way I could possibly imagine". I would not recommend him to anyone.

Absolutely horrible experience, does not listen to anything you are saying and bases diagnosis on notes from previous providers. Quick to suggest medication without suggesting therapy first.
