Dr. Helzer's bio
This content was provided by Dr. Helzer "My years in private practice have taught me the importance of the doctor-patient relationship in developing a personalized, long-term care plan for every patient. I enjoy treating families and assisting them in creating a healthy home. My dedication to providing the best patient experience has been recognized with awards including the Patients’ Choice Award, the Compassionate Doctor Award and the On-Time Doctor Award. For 15 years, I practiced in Northville, MI before coming to Metro Health Rockford. It is a pleasure being back in the Grand Rapids area to serve the community where I grew up. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, attended the University of Michigan Medical School and completed a family medicine residency at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI. When I am not at the office, I enjoy hunting, fishing, farming and field-to-table cooking."
This content was provided by Dr. Helzer "My practice focuses on patient wellness and creating a healthy lifestyle. I encourage patients to understand how much power they have in their own lives to treat and avoid disease through daily exercise and proper nutrition. This can be challenging in a busy home. Only by listening to a patient and getting to know their daily challenges can we develop a directed plan to improve health. Providing education materials and printed plans are only the start. MyChart and other electronic applications allow for dynamic communication of important data the patient and I can both use to improve understanding – and ultimately help patients reach their healthcare goals."
