My husband started coughing up blood after chemo. Dr Javaid believed it was caused from a reaction to the drug. He put him on prednisone. He kept him on it for over a year with no improvement My husband developed a gastric bleed and almost died. While in the hospital we were referred to a GI doctor for the bleed. He said that he could not believe he was not prescribed an antacid because you never keep someone on steroids long term without prescribing an antacid. After he left our clinic we were referred by his replacement to a University Hospital. Turns out, it wasn’t a lung problem after all. It was due to atrial fib and blood thinners. After about two years of prednisone which caused severe muscle cramps and his gastric bleed, about 20 CTSCANS, a bronchial biopsy, he is improving. I am not faulting him for misdiagnosing this, I am faulting him for being too proud to admit he needed to seek outside help. This doctors ego comes before his patients care.
