Kasliwal, MD received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India where he also completed a residency in neurosurgery. He subsequently finished another neurosurgery residency at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL and spine surgery fellowship at Rush University focusing on minimally Invasive and complex spine surgery. He went to complete another year of combined neurosurgery and orthopedic complex spine surgery fellowship at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA furthering his expertise in the surgical treatment of complex spinal deformities and spinal reconstruction. He is the Director of Minimally Invasive spine surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Case Western University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. He has contributed to more than 150 peer reviewed publications and close to 50 book chapter publications. He specializes in performing complex cervical and thoracolumbar spinal surgery, surgery for spinal deformity, spinal arthroplasty, spinal reconstruction, spinal tumors, spinal cord tumors and minimally invasive spine surgery. His expertise and special interest includes treatment of patients with spinal deformities (scoliosis) via both conventional open and novel minimally invasive techniques and application of minimally invasive techniques in the management of routine degenerative spinal disorders. His research interest includes studying clinical outcomes and complications following spinal surgeries and development of newer less invasive techniques in the surgically management of spinal pathologies.
