Dr. Saigusa was born in Tokyo, Japan and came to the United States while still a teenager. He finished his senior year of high school as an exchange student in the small farming community of Makesan, Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Samford University in Birmingham , Alabama, and earned a D.M.D. from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. In 1991, he moved to Texas to attend medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. After receiving his M.D. and completing his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he moved to Tyler in 1997 to join Tyler Oral and Facial Surgery. Dr.Saigusa resides in Tyler with his wife and two sons. He is involved in a number of charitable causes including Texas Missions of Mercy, which each year provides free medical and dental services to thousands of East Texans. He regularly travels to Central America with Tejas Missions, an organization offering volunteer treatment to underdeveloped regions. He also serves as Clinical Associate Professor for the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio.
