      Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

      Dr. Wendel's Care Philosophy

I believe in establishing a relationship with patients based on mutual respect and cooperation.  While modern medical care is complex and care is nuanced, I strive to educate patients and allow them to make decisions that are true to their values and goals.  I also believe in creating a joyful environment filled with levity and gratitude.

      Dr. Wendel says...

I am fellowship trained in the medical treatment of retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal vascular diseases. I also practice general ophthalmology including cataract surgery.  This is an uncommon combination in today's highly specialized world of ophthalmology, however, it is a combination that allows me to treat a wide variety of eye diseases and gives me access to many of the exciting advances in modern ophthalmology.

I perform retinal lasers and intravitreal injections for the treatment of retinal disease, and perform cataract surgery including multifocal lenses and toric lenses for astigmatism.
