This content was provided by Dr. Stern "Dr. Lorraine Stern was born and raised in Glen Rock, New Jersey. She got an early start on her medical career in high school as a Junior Volunteer at Valley Hospital and as an EMT on the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps. After graduating from The Frisch School in Paramus, she attended The George Washington University from which she graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Biology. Following this, she attended The George Washington University School of Medicine where she graduated as valedictorian. During her seven years at GW, she was a supervisor with the Emergency Medical Response Group (EMeRG). At graduation, she was recognized for her commitment to EMS in the GW community as the inaugural recipient of the Stern-Emerson Award; in addition, she received an EMS Excellence award from Hackensack University Medical Center and a proclamation by the Mayor and Council of Glen Rock for her commitment to EMS in Glen Rock. Dr. Stern completed her six year residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, which included instruction at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, MetroHealth Medical Center, the level I trauma center for the region, and Louis Stokes Veterans Affairs Hospital. As part of her residency training, Dr. Lorraine Stern was awarded a prestigious Dudley P. Allen Research Fellowship where she spent a year studying the biomechanics of large bone allografts under Dr. Clare Rimnac in the Musculoskeletal Mechanics and Materials Laboratory at Case Western Reserve University. During her residency, she was published multiple times, presented her research at several national meetings, and was awarded a $10,000 research grant from AO Trauma North America. In addition, she co-authored a chapter in Skeletal Trauma in Children and she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Case Orthopedic Journal, a nationally circulated orthopedic research journal. Following residency, she completed a one year fellowship in orthopedic trauma surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where she obtained additional training in the care of complex adult and pediatric fractures. Her practice focuses on the care of adult and pediatric fractures and post-traumatic reconstruction. She has a special interest in fractures in and around joints, fractures that have not healed or have healed in an unfavorable position, and geriatric fractures. In addition, she is also happy to see patients with general orthopedic problems. Dr. Lorraine Stern is board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. She is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as well as the Orthopedic Trauma Association. "

My ten year old son broke his femur. Dr Stern did two surgeries on him. One year later he is 100 percent better. She was responsive to our calls and questions and helped us through a difficult time. I one hundred percent recommend this doctor.

She is very professional and has a great personality. Her greatest aspect is her surgical ability. She did a great job with my hip replacement. Had zero complications.
