Ketamine Treatment
I guess I'm rating the Ketamine Infusion more than Dr. Calabrese, since I only saw her briefly for the 6 treatments. First off, the Ketamine was very effective for me. I have struggled with depression my whole life and was in a really dark place. I felt like it was my last hope. I felt better within a day of the first treatment and by the last, I felt that my depression was gone. Here's the downside - once the treatments are done, you're on your own. I would suggest to anyone thinking of doing this to have tools in place to help you figure out how to live a life without depression. I found Dr. Calabrese to be warm and supportive. The treatments themselves are expensive and inconvenient (trying to find a ride for me was a hassle) but painless and really mind expanding (make sure to have music picked out, bring headphones and an eye mask and wear something warm-chilly in the office.).

I have seen Dr Calabrese for approximately 10 years. She is by far the best psychiatrist I have ever met. She has many physicians as patients which is indicative of the esteem in which she is held by her colleagues. Her educational background is exceptional. Her one flaw is that she is often slightly late for appointments but that is because when necessary she spends extra time with patients. Psychiatry is a field in which by necessity there needs to be a “fit” between the therapist and the patient. It is therefore unlikely that a fine psyciatrist may have some patients who will not like them. However in Dr. Calabrese’s case I believe that would be unusual. If possible I would give her a 6 star rating.

I completed the 6 sessions with no change in my depression nor anxiety. Lori is very knowledgeable and gave me hope but unfortunately I spent $3,400 for nothing. Its costly and time consuming and worth it if it works! I had a friend who also completed 6 sessions with no change. I got no follow up call after the last treatment session which leaves me thinking Lori is more profit seeing than anything.

Almost “crippled “ my child with her “experimental “ treatment and his future. A total nightmarish experience. Only accepted cash not his insurance. He had 3 insurances! Once he could not pay she told him to find another doctor.

I have spent my life depressed and suicidal. Nevermind the guilt that comes along with feeling you are blessed but still wake everyday hopeful this could be the "one" only to have the dark shade drawn. Thus begins another day of plastering the happy smile to your face when the world appears so dark. I have been so lucky to have a wonderful Psychiatrist for 26 years who finally suggested a more radical approach to treatment was necessary . We decided on Ketamine and he had heard wonderful things about Dr. Calabrese. She explained answered all my questions at length. Every one of my six treatments was different and unique. Afterwards I found my eyes being drawn to brighter objects that had apparently always been in my life. Previously I had become exhausted and could not see why life was worth living. I now feel future focused in a way I can honestly say I have never felt. I no longer spend every weekend sleeping to escape the darkness. I can't thank this doctor and her staff enough.

I rarely write reviews on people or products and I have never written a negative review on a doctor but think others deserve a warning. Dr. Calabrese is educated and a well read doctor but misses subtle human emotions and the big picture of the patients life. She takes great pride in a calm environment and if you come in having an emotional day she may think you need medication instead of digging deeper in what is actually going on in your life. I saw her for a couple years and she prescribed me medications I believe in large part due to my abusive ex husbands lies. After years of seeing her she finally admitted that he might be "gas-lighting" me....a term that I had never heard before but is quite popular today. It took her too long to figure this out for someone who is supposedly well trained. Warning: if you go in with any extra energy or emotion she will definitely put you on "something" as she seems to think everyone should talk in a whisper and be calm.

Dr. Lori Calabrese, along with her staff, saved my life this past summer. I have severe treatment resistant depression. I'm diagnosed as Bipolar II, but it's mostly depression now. I fight it, like a WARRIOR, every day of my life. Last July I hit a wall of darkness that last for DAYS... then WEEKS... and it wasn't letting up. I had no quality of life whatsoever. I was ready to check out. Then my fiance and I heard about Dr. Calabrese and her studies on Ketamine treatments for people with treatment resistant depression. I couldn't believe it existed. My own psychiatrist had never mentioned it to me. (NOT COOL) My fiance called to set up an appointment for me. Her staff was amazing and got me in immediately. My fiance and I met with Dr. Calabrese. She was sincere, empathetic and encouraging. Her energy is very peaceful and calming. I told her the desperate state I was in and that she was my last hope. Well, it's 8 months later and I'm still here! IT WORKS- THANK YOU DR CALABRESE!

My experience was a nightmare. I had horrible scary visions during the infusions. The nurse was extremely cold and there was no compassion. A thousand dollars wasted. Both times I felt awful even worse the following few days. I emailed the Dr and she never responded. It took my therapist to call her two days after the infusion to get any answers. She told her for me to stop that this was rare I’m sure it isn’t. She told her that I should have my phychatrist come up with a plan and thst was it

I would like to say I have been with Dr. CALABRESE for roughly 15 to 16 years. Prior to Dr. CALABRESE i tried to work with 4 to 5 Doctors maybe more but no one would be able to get me on the correct medication. It was not until Dr CALABRESE who got me on track. I believe it was my understanding of a GOD that worked through Dr CALABRESE,to get me on the right track. And i am Eternally Grateful. To anyone who reads this we did not hit the answer the first or second or maybe more, but it worked.

Superb! She is up to date, on target and brilliant. Picked up on a diagnosis no one had ever given me, and really went over treatment options with a lot of detail. Super attentive, and super focused. The office is beautiful, she is really smart, personable, and easy to talk to, and she was willing to explain things to my family. I've seen a lot of psychiatrists and APRNs who really didn't know what they were doing. She is someone who thinks out of the box. So thrilling to have hope again!

Went to Dr. C for treatment of depression that hadn't responded to medication. IV ketamine was recommended costing $3000. No other therapy was mentioned, such as TMS which is less costly and covered by insurance. The only face to face time with Dr. C was for the intake. I had no benefit from the ketamine. There was no follow up, no aftercare. She met briefly w/me at the end and suggested I try more sessions at $500 each. Lack of compassion or responsible follow through.
