Care Philosophy

The most important part of medicine is listening to you, the patient. I enjoy helping women through all phases of their life, from trying not to get pregnant, trying to get pregnant, the pregnancy (ies) and then any gynecologic issues such as irregular bleeding and fibroids. Every day is different and every patient is different. Many conditions, such as fibroids and heavy bleeding, used to require major surgery and several nights in the hospital. Now, I can manage many problems with minimally invasive robotic surgery and many patients go home the same day. Another major change comes in our care for women after delivery. We now have a comprehensive pelvic floor strengthening program that can be done post partum or any time when you feel urinary leaking is a problem for you.Read more

Dr. Schapiro says..

An early adopter of the robot, physicians refer patients to me for robotic hysterectomies, myomectomies and endometriosis surgery.  Patients come to me from throughout the metro-Atlanta area and nationally.

My favorite referral was a doctor who referred his wife to me because she needed a gynecologist with a sense of humor.  Most conversations in my office are about emotional issues and I pride myself on listening to my patients and being sensitive to their needs. Nobody wants to have surgery, and I try to make the process as easy as possible.

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
