Care Philosophy

Personal Statement

"Because of my good fortune in training with some of the pioneers in general and cardiac surgery, I had opportunities to join the faculty of many well established cardiovascular surgery programs throughout the country. I chose to return to Weill Cornell because I could not find a program anywhere in the United States that could provide the same high level of care to patients that the nurses, anesthesiologists and technicians do here at Weill Cornell. I take great pride in being a member of a team that can handle the most complex patient situation, regardless of the time, whether day or night, the circumstances or the nature of the problem."

The best aortic surgeon there is. Confident , reassuring and incredibly skillful. Clearly loves what he does and it shows in his work and approach to patient care and has surrounded himself with a a terrific team
Dr Girardi is a brilliant physician, and he saved my father's life. The aneurysm repair and valve replacement surgery was a complete success. After surgery my father developed a very rare often misdiagnosed often fatal complication from heparin exposure. Dr Girardi diagnosed it immediately and treated him for three long weeks. We are forever grateful to Dr Girardi and his amazing team at NYP. We recommend him without reservation or hesitation. Thank you Dr Girardi!
in Brewster, NY |
I was a 67 year old male with a leaky mitral valve, requiring surgery. Dr Girardi performed the operation on 10/14/15 to reshape the P2 leaflet, and install a C-Ring to tighten the circumference of the P1,P2,P3 leaflets. On 11/14/16, I had an echo cardiogram performed by my cardiologist. My Mitral shows no signs of any leakage whatsoever. I have great energy, work out at the gym regularly and simply full of life. I thank God for Dr Girardi and the entire team at New York Presbyterian.

Dr. Girardi performed my second aortic valve replacement in 2012 which was complicated due to my diagnosis of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and six months of chemotherapy. He and his entire cardiac team were the best and I would highly recommend Dr. Girardi to anyone. He saved my life and I will be forever grateful.
in Sarasota, FL |
A brilliant surgeon surrounded by an equally skilled support team. The quality of care they provide is worth traveling for, as I did. Open-heart surgery is a serious matter, and the probability of a good outcome correlates directly with the provider and his staff. Strictly business in his manner, you get just what you need: superior medical advice, treatment and aftercare. The best there is.
