Excellent! Dr. Raines was the first doctor to come up with a prescription regimen (a combination of two to three medications) that was anywhere near adequately effective for my insomnia/anxiety/depression. And it was more than adequately effective. It made a tremendous difference in my quality of life - to say nothing of simply enabling me to meet the demands of life day to day. He counselled me and treated me through one of the most difficult and demanding periods of my life. I will be forever grateful. As to others complaints: He was always there when I had an appointment. On occasion I had to wait - but then he spent extra time with me when it was truly and urgently needed. I always made sure to get prescriptions from him when we met so that I would not need refills in between. Any little inconveniences were miniscule in comparison to how helpful he was overall.

Lawrence Raines is a horrible excuse for a doctor (unprofessional, unethical, and negligent). It is no wonder that his license to practice medicine has been revoked for a minimum of 1 year! (check with the state -- his license was suspended on 2/18/19 for unprofessional conduct). In addition to him unqualified to continue his work as a psychiatrist in the state of North Carolina, Raines is also unqualified to be considered a decent, moral, and thoughtful human being.

Dr. Raines is a good therapist during sessions but habitually fails to call in prescriptions, sometimes for many days, leaving patients that depend on these replacement medications in a very bad position. He ignores repeated phone calls, text messages and has failed to show up for scheduled appmnts many times with no notice. This behavior threatens the sobriety of patients that depend on him to stay sober. He should stop seeing addicted patients until he can keep his promises. BE WARNED!

Dr. Raines is a great doctor one-on-one. But be ware that you may not be able to get in touch with him or get your meds refilled several times a year. Twice in the past year, he has failed to show up for my appointments. The door to the practice has been locked. It is extremely difficult to get meds refilled at times, which is extremely problematic for psychiatric meds. I have been seeing Dr. Raines for over a decade and this has been an occasional problem but it has gotten much worse.
