Dr Byrd is a nephrologist, trained at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, who did Hypertension training there under Drs. John Laragh, Michael Weber, and Thomas Pickering. He has served as President of the New Jersey Hypertension Society and treasurer of the Eastern Chapter of the American Society of Hypertension (NY-NJ-CT). He has 40 years of experience in the areas of high blood pressure and kidney disease. He has authored 2 textbook chapters and about 20 publications in his areas of expertise. He has been awarded by St Barnabas Medical Center in 2005, Special Recognition Award for teaching medical residents, and in 2010, the prestigious Harvey Nussbaum Career Golden Apple Award.
