Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

Dr. Bernstein's Care Philosophy

I've been a practicing neurologist for 38 years, and I've watched tremendous advances, particularly in the field of epileptology. Among the advances that have been so important are neuromodulatory tools to treat epilepsy. The first of these is the vagus nerve stimulator, and this is a pacemaker device that can be implanted -
much the way a cardic pacemaker is - and approximately two thirds of patients will have a 50 percent reduction in their seizures. Nothing is more satisfying than being able to take a person who can't drive, who's life is being narrowed by a burden of having poorly controlled seizures, and turning that person's life around.
