Great doctor. Very thorough and a good listener.

Dr Payne was much more interested in making sure you had a zero balance due him than seeing you through your post-op follow-up visits. I came in for my appointment in 2014 following a surgery that he had done on my eye and his office would not let go in for my visit until I paid 100% of my remaining bill. I had made several payments on this bill and had little left to pay it off. My credit report says I have over a 800 credit rating so I do pay my bills!! I have little respect for him!

I am an established patient and just called for a yearly check up. After the receptionist did not find my name in the computer (I have been a pt for years so not sure why she didn't find it) she tells me that "he is booked out for months, months & months, do you want to wait that long?")

I have been a patient of Dr. Payne for years and have always received the very best of care from him and his team. Besides yearly check-ups and intermediate appointments, Dr. Payne operated on me for cataracts. Since I was wearing mono contacts, I chose to have mono implants during cataract surgery. It was a good choice - after five years, I still have perfect eyesight.
in Atlanta, GA |
My mom was offered laser cataract surgery...and she took it. But the costs were ridiculous. My husband's mom just got cataract surgery by a very good surgeon and she was super-happy. She even got a special lens... Payne charges so much money for these things...don't go.

If you have the chance, leave Gainesville for doctors anywhere else...the eye doctors are charging so much for cataract surgery that it rivals Atlanta...DON'T DO LASER...it's more expensive without extra benefits.
