This content was provided by Dr. Espandar "I am a board certified Ophthalmologist, specializing in corneal pathology, surgery and intraocular and corneal refractive procedures. I was born and raised in Iran. I have completed a research fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX and Ophthalmic Pathology fellowship at Moran Eye center, Salt Lake City, UT. I completed my second time ophthalmology residency at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA and a two-year cornea fellowship at Duke University, Durham, NC. I have published more than 40 publications in peer reviewed journals, and also presented my research at The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), and received numerous grants and prizes for my extensive research and clinical studies. I see patients for anterior segment pathology and surgical care, including cataract surgery with standard and specialty intraocular lenses, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), YAG capsulotomy and peripheral iridotomy. I specialize in corneal pathology and is experienced in performing corneal transplant procedures including DMEK, DSAEK, and lamellar and full thickness penetrating keratoplasty. And also performs laser vision correction and other intraocular refractive procedures including Phakic IOL implantation. see my publication in: Personal Interests: I likes running, biking, hiking and climbing. I summited Denali (highest peak in north America) in June 2017. My goal is to climb 7 summits."
