This content was provided by Dr. Sweeney "My professional mission is to provide education, treatment, and support to patients and families, empowering them to take control of their medical care.
The patient who finds his or her way into my office has been unexpectedly thrust down an unfamiliar road. Where two weeks prior they were walking the dog, engaged at work, or planning the next family vacation, today they find themselves bouncing between doctor visits, MRIs, and blood draws. In these difficult circumstances, how do people regain a sense of control? They do so through understanding their diagnosis, preparing for and overcoming inevitable challenges, and having an actionable plan moving forward. Although I take a leading role, this process it is not performed in a vacuum. Close coordination with medical oncologists, radiologist, pathologists, and radiation oncologists ensures access to as many experts and treatment avenues as are available."
