This content was provided by Dr. Jaeckle "Kurt A. Jaeckle, M.D., is currently Medical Director of the Gerald J. Glasser Brain Tumor Center at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey, and Medical Director for Clinical Research at the Atlantic Health System. He is ABPN Board Certified in Neurology and UCNS Board Certified in Neuro-oncology. Dr. Jaeckle received his MD degree at Indiana University School of Medicine; completed internship in Medicine, residency in Neurology, and Fellowship in Neuromuscular Disease at Vanderbilt University; and completed Fellowship in Neuro-oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He has held faculty positions as Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Associate Professor and Deputy Chairman of Neurology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and as Professor of Neurology and Professor of Oncology at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Jaeckle has served as a principle investigator or co-investigator on several investigator- initiated, national and international Phase I-III clinical therapeutic trials, which have focused on treatment of patients with primary and secondary CNS malignancies. He has authored numerous peer reviewed papers and book chapters on the subject of primary and metastatic brain tumors, and the neurologic complications of cancer. He has previously served as Chair of the Internal Audit Committee and member of the Scientific Research Committee at MD Anderson; member of the Scientific Research Committee, Scientific Progress Committee, Data Safety Monitoring Committee, and Chair of the Disease Oriented Group Committee at Mayo Clinic and Director of the Neurooncology Program at Mayo Clinic Florida. Dr. Jaeckle has previously served as Site Principle Investigator at Mayo Clinic Florida for the NCCTG, Alliance and ECOG NCI-supported Cooperative Groups, Co-Chair of the Neurooncology Committee for the NCCTG; Chair of the Section on Neurooncology of the American Academy of Neurology; Executive Board member for the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties; Executive Board member of the Society for Neurooncology (SNO); member of the NCI Brain Malignancies Steering Committee; Chair of NCI ABTC grant review committee, and past member of NIH Special Study Sections. Currently, he serves as Site Principle Investigator for the Atlantic Health System for the Alliance Clinical Trials In Oncology Group (NCI funded Cooperative Group); is a member of the NCI Cooperative Group (Alliance) neurooncology committee, and a member of the Physician's Advisory Board for PIER (Partners in Innovation, Education and Research). Dr. Jaeckle is also a practicing neuro-oncologist, providing care for patients with primary brain tumors, metastases to brain and spine, leptomeningeal metastases, paraneoplastic disorders, and other neurologic complications of cancer. The emphasis of Dr. Jaeckle's clinical research includes trials of new agents for brain tumor treatment, including targeted therapy and immunotherapy, vaccines, chemotherapy, radiosensitizers, and personalized treatments based on molecular profiling. During his free time, Dr. Jaeckle loves to spend time with his wife, Bunny Leach-Jaeckle, and help support her efforts as a patient advocate, writer, and CEO of the Nicki Leach Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises funding to help young adults with cancer."
