Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Shipman "Minimally invasive techniques minimize pain and risk. We are constantly updating surgical techniques to diminish the scars and pain that come with an operation by adding to the capabilities of minimally invasive surgery. While minimally invasive surgery is not right in every case, we may be able to offer your child surgical alternatives that are unavailable anywhere else in the world. We know what the latest techniques are: We invented many of them here. We know what you want for your child because we are parents too. You want your child's needs met with less hassle, with less delay, and with absolutely the latest technology. And that is just what the staff, nurse practitioners and surgeons at Rocky Mountain Pediatric Surgery deliver."

We saw Dr. Shipman for our 4-year old daughter's umbilical hernia and were so pleased! Dr. Shipman engaged our daughter in the conversation and didn't make her feel like an outsider in her own care. While there, Dr. Shipman also noticed a small hiatal hernia that hadn't been diagnosed before. Now that she is 6, my daughter honestly has only good memories about her surgery and refers to Dr. Shipman as "my friend Dr. Shipman."
