Dr. Knute Buehler is a proven innovator and problem solver. He is the author of more than a dozen published scientific research papers and is considered one of the premier surgeon developers in the world of computer assisted knee replacement. He travels frequently teaching these techniques to surgeons both domestically and internationally, especially China and India. Dr. Buehler is a leading consultant for Stryker Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, designing artificial joints, developing software and assisting with business development. He has U.S. and European patents for inventions that have worldwide sales and distribution. Dr. Buehler is on the board of directors of St. Charles Health System. He has been instrumental as chairman of the strategy committee in creating an innovative integrated health system that served as an important model for the recent healthcare reform in Oregon. He also assisted in developing a new method of continuous performance auditing for the health system, drastically improving accountability. Dr. Buehler was born and raised in Roseburg and earned a degree in microbiology from Oregon State University. At OSU, he played varsity baseball and was the university's first Rhodes Scholar. After attending Oxford University, where he studied politics and economics, Knute earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is active in national and statewide politics and was recently honored to be elected to represent the people of Bend as their State Representative in the Oregon legislature.
