Dr. Kevin Doulens earned his medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery internship and residency at the Fort Worth Affiliated Hospitals Program at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He then completed his Orthopedic Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2010, he completed a Travelling Fellowship through the European Federation of Sports Traumatology (EFOST) by working alongside team physicians in England, France, Spain, Israel, and Belgium. Dr. Doulens was an Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Florida in Jacksonville from 2006 to 2009. From 2012 to 2015, Dr. Doulens held the academic position of Clinical Instructor for the Orthopedic Physician Assistant Program at the University of St. Augustine in Florida. He is currently on the faculty of the University of Queensland Medical College in Brisbane, Australia. Dr. Doulens was the team physician for the Jacksonville Suns minor league baseball team and the Jacksonville Barracudas minor league hockey team. He has served as the team physician for several high schools and colleges, including Vanderbilt University. He was the Medical Director of the Jacksonville Marathon from 2007 to 2012. His clinical interests include sports injuries, along with shoulder and knee arthroscopy and reconstruction, including meniscal and cartilage repair. In addition to rotator cuff surgery, Dr. Doulens performs Total Shoulder Replacements, including Reverse Total Shoulders. Dr. Doulens is board certified in orthopedics with a Certificate of Advanced Qualifications in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
