This content was provided by Dr. Narain "South Bay Retina was established by Dr. Narain in 2001 to provide individualized treatments for patients who are forced to contend with retinal conditions. He set out to establish the highest standards both technologically and with respect to quality of care. This includes direct and open communications with the patient about treatments and alternatives.
Together with a talented staff, we work with the patient and family to find solutions to very critical visual problems. Often times, this requires a coordinated and team approach and an understanding of the patients unique needs. A careful discussion of each proposed treatment is carried out. We employ written materials along with graphical content that is delivered by our portal via secure internet to patients. Using the patient portal, patients can review findings and discussion for the visit, share notes with another doctor, or print to a written format. We often will include a recommended video link to allow patients to learn about their conditions and treatment alternatives.
Some retinal conditions, like active wet macular degeneration, require frequently follow up and treatment. Often times, this provides an opportunity to obtain longitudinal information such as blood pressure, eye pressure, and oxygen saturation, in addition to usual parameters. There is no doubt that eye diseases are related to general health. We emphasize the treatment of the whole patient for this reason. We invite participation of family, friend, spouse, partner, and moral supporter. Questions are always welcome."
