Our entire family loves Dr Mcdowell. He is very upfront and honest with you. He is very personable and takes the time to listen to you. I don’t mind waiting a few extra minutes if necessary because I know I’m going to get the same quality attention.

Just recently moved to the Fredericksburg area and was fortunate to find Dr. Dowell and his staff. Dr. McDowell is extremely knowledgeable, plus he takes whatever time needed to diagnose and provide treatment needed. Meantime, he comes across as sincerely caring about my well being. Not only has this doctor shown this kind professional, caring attitude, so has all of his staff. For example, I also met with PA Sean Bodin and found him be remarkable too. Therefore I recommend highly recommend them

After moving to the area, I thought it would be difficult to find a new PCP. After a strenuous search, I came across Dr. Mcdowell. My first visit was today and I was pleasantly surprised. I don't think I've ever had a doctor that took actual time, to get to know me on such a personal level. He's is extremely down to earth and shoots it straight! Yes the appointments can be alittle untimely; however, he was worth the wait. He exemplifies what it means to be a great doctor! 6??????

Getting through on the phone was Terrible, (waiting time was 8:32) After getting to appt. waited in waiting room for 17 min. Then transfer to another room and waited for 32 min. Then a person walked in and said he would be a little longer. I left!

My husband, myself, my parents...we all have gone to Dr. McDowell since the beginning of time. He's always been one to take time with you, he's a very loving and caring doctor, ahead of the curve when it comes to latest medical practices and as a result he saved my dads life. His practice has grown out of necessity due to Obama care so you may need to wait to see him but he's worth the wait. If you have the privilege to call him your doctor, you are blessed to have the highest caliber care.

I really like Dr. McDowell. He has been my PCP for approximately 3 years. He's very busy so the wait time is a little long, but when you see him, he takes plenty of time to answer questions and discuss options. I like that he lets me participate in my health care strategy. Highly recommend.

This practice was once a very effective and family oriented environment. Over the last year, the wait time have become unbearable. I have had 45 minute wait times (from scheduled appointment times) for the last 4 visits. The front staff has become less personable and it leaves the appearance of a tranition away from patient oriented care. Clinically, it's hit or miss. The medical assistant that takes my vitals always says 120/80.

After waiting one hour to see Dr. McDowell, he was arrogant, condescending and when asked how I was and I told him I was disturbed by the hour wait, he displayed zero empathy for my inconvenience and offered me no reasonable excuse for the delay. He was arrogant and condescending and was visibly angered when I challenged his tardiness. He yelled at me for holding him accountable for my time. He told me to "get the hell out of his office and he would mail me my records". Refused to see me.
