This content was provided by Dr. Mathys "Dr. K. Casey Mathys, MD, is a fellowship-trained cornea specialist who specializes in the cornea, external diseases, and refractive eye surgery. Dr. Mathys received his Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience and behavioral biology from Emory University and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His internship was at the University of California at San Diego. His ophthalmology residency was at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also served as chief resident from 2007-08. His fellowship in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery was from Eye Consultants of Atlanta at Piedmont Hospital. Dr. Mathys has been published in numerous medical journals, written book chapters on cornea disease, and has lectured at a number of national meetings. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology."
