He began serving as an Allergan Proctor in 2007, educating other bariatric surgeons in procedures and techniques associated with lap band surgery and proper follow-up care of patients. Dr. McEwen decided in his adolescence that he would pursue medicine as his profession. He began his private practice with Community Health Network in 1991. His practice has been dedicated to non-resective gastric surgery since 2005 with his primary focus on adjustable gastric banding. Dr. McEwen follows his patients extensively the first year with monthly visits to personalize their weight loss experience. He is dedicated to a team approach toward patient care with a focus on quality satisfaction and results. He believes adjustable gastric banding provides a tool to help patients achieve their personal weight loss goals. He has performed more than 1000 adjustable gastric band surgeries.
