Major surgery went well
Dr Heier also “harvested” the tendon running to my big toe to replace the missing tendon to my ankle. He carefully explained that I wouldn’t be able to point my big toe - it does bend up. It was a matter of which was more important to my mobility. No contest. Mine was major surgery - actually 7 surgeries on my left foot! (No trauma - genetic issues) He was very honest about the “major” issue and that full recovery would be up to a year. It was getting harder to function so I took the plunge. By the end of the year I was doing well and not having issues with balance. I even did mission work and went on a Safari in Tanzania! I am 75 by the way. Some of my friends have had to have corrective surgery (screws breaking, etc.)

Harvested tendon- BEWARE
During a tendon repair, Dr. Heier decided to harvest the tendon behind my big toe running to my Achilles, rather than make use of a cadaver’s as was discussed as a possibility. During surgery he did not consult my spouse. This has resulted in no use of my big toe and leaving me completely unbalanced to walk normally. I’m skeptical that the PA did a lot of the work during my surgery.

I was referred to Dr. Heier by another surgeon. They talked by phone while I was in the other surgeon's office. Dr. Heier said for me to come directly to his office. I did and was immediately cared for even though I did not have all the needed paperwork with me. Everyone in Dr. Heier's office was courteous and professional. I recommend Dr. Heier without reservation.

I've been a patient of Dr. Heier's for about 5 yrs. He is straight & to the point, takes time to really listen to my concerns. He found broken bones in my foot when other doctors didn't. Had 2 surgeries with him with excellent results! Also had great nonsurgical plans as well! Very pleased with all of his work. I am pain free thanks to him!!

Dr. Heier did an Agility ankle replacement on my right ankle in 2006, and then an Infinity replacement on my left ankle in 2019. These were successful and have allowed me to walk naturally and without pain. We talk frankly, and I trust him implicitly.

My first visit with Dr. Keith Heier was above and beyond what I hoped for. Dr. Heier performed surgery on my broken ankle a few years ago. He was wonderful and made me back to normal which was important as I work FT and at the time my daughter was 2! Today I referred a friend of mine who needs him after a lousy job on her heel from another surgeon. So thankful!!

Dr Heier has treated three family members. We first met him when my daughter had a foot injury several years ago that required surgery. Since then, I have also needed foot surgery and my wife has gone in for treatment. Dr Heier is thorough with his explanations and his staff (Jodi & Justin) are very competent. I recommend them highly.

Dr. Heier took great care of me with my broken foot. His staff was very efficient and knew exactly how to handle my workers comp claim and answer all my questions, especially Justin Wicker! I would highly recommend Dr. Heier!

Dr. Heier is top notch. I have not had an easy road with my foot but Dr. Heier has discussed every single option with me. He discussed my concerns and hesitations but in the end he told me truthfully what we needed to do. I am still in recovery but I totally trust Dr. Heier's advice and his staff.

You will be hard pressed to find a better foot and ankle surgeon! He recently performed complex surgery on my son who's foot is anatomically abnormal and was causing daily pain. He was direct and a really skilled surgeon to have accomplished what he was able to do in one surgery.
