Over the past 4 yrs. I have had several procedures to alleviate low back pain from degenerative disk disease. The best relief as come from radio frequency ablation to my facet joints and both sacroiliac joints. For me the ablation of nerves has lasted up to 14 months and then the procedure was done again. I trust Dr. Assil completely. I believe his skills are extraordinary. His staff is competent and caring. The RF procedures have made such a difference in my life. I am able to do so much more.

Dr. Assil in a highly competent physician who was able to diagnose and proficiently treat the nearly unbearable neck pains I had been experiencing for many months. I am happy to say that I no longer have any pain and would have no hesitations in relying on him in the future.
in Newbury Park, CA |
Dr. Assil enters examining room with a calm, professional demeanor which allowed me to be calmer and more able to explain my issues. He listened, took notes and was obviously taking in what I said and considering the options. He has done a cauterizing of nerves in my neck and years later in my lower back. I had been hit head on by a truck and suffered a multitude of injuries that have turned into arthritis. The pain he treated improved significantly until years later one required surgery.
in Thousand Oaks, CA |
I have a cervical herniated disc and I have never felt pain the way I felt when this happened. Weeks and weeks of bouncing around to different doctors, getting x-rays and MRIs, physical therapy twice a week.. nothing helped. I was medicated all the time, in constant pain - I'd cry every day. ONE VISIT to Dr. Assil was all it took. He pinpointed the pain, gave me injections and for the past week I have been 80-90% pain free! I couldn't thank him enough, he changed my life.
in Thousand Oaks, CA |
After almost 5 months of seeing other physicians, having MRI's, x-rays, and PT, Dr. Assil pin-pointed the source of my constant pain in the 1st office visit and within 3 visits I was able to resume more normal activities and strengthening back exercises. Dr. Assil is a compassionate and caring physician that really understands the effects of pain. His office staff are professional and really seem to care about his patients – I highly recommend Dr. Assil & his staff!
in Thousand Oaks, CA |
Dr assil has done radio frequency on my cervical spine I was having severe pain along with debilitating migraine headaches I'm happy to say I have not had a migraine in more than two years he listens to his patients and takes his time I'm so greatful
in Simi Valley, CA |
I suffered from debilitating headaches for 15 years, as often as several times a week. I was diagnosed with 4 herniated discs in my neck; to ?fix? this condition would require a 4-level fusion. My orthopedic surgeon referred me to Dr. Assil, who diagnosed and treated the exact cause of the headaches, and they are gone. His expertise and caring transformed my quality of life.

Kam Assil, MD is an expert in pain management and has been a practicing physician for more than two decades. His interest in pain management developed when he was just a child. At seven years old, Dr. Assil's father sustained a back injury while shoveling snow and was bedridden for nearly six months. Due to the lasting impression of this event, he developed an interest in the human nervous system and pain control. Dr. Assil completed his honors thesis and undergraduate research on the nervous system, pharmacology of opiates and pain mechanisms. Since, he has published several research papers regarding those subjects.

Dr. Assil received a Bachelor of Science with honors in psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a medical degree from the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine. Before joining Ventura Orthopedics, Dr. Assil was the founder and medical director of Conjeo Pain Specialists, Inc. in Thousand Oaks, Calif. for two decades.

With a specialization in pain management, Dr. Assil focuses on targeting the source of pain and works closely with other medical specialists and physical therapy to treat everything from severe headaches, neck pain and nerve damage to herniated disks and lower back pain. His expertise is in spine injections for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes such as precision epidural steroid injections, nerve root blocks, facet diagnostic injections, radiofrequency neurotomy, spinal cord stimulation and sympathetic ganglion blocks for cervical, lumbar and thoracic spine.
