Dr Rao is excellent. Takes as much time as required, is very detailed, listens well and is very available if needed. She does not recommend things that are not required. I have seen many Endocrinologists and Dr Rao is the best!

I have been a patient of Dr. Jyothi Rao for about 3 years. I have been very satisfied since day 1. She seems genuinely concerned about my diabetic health. She has helped me get mine under control and shares my excitement in my continued improvement.

The only reason I'd recommend dr Rao is because she recommended me to the best thyroid surgeon at Duke. For the rest she didn't seem to care much. Even after my thyroid blood levels dropped dramatically and suddenly after 1,5 yr stability, she referred me to my pcp. She is supposed to be the specialist. Switched to Raleigh Endocrine Associates.

Saw Dr. Rao for symptoms related to Hashimoto?s Thyroiditis. Told her I?m a typical subclinical Hashi?s patient. Meaning my TSH is normal, but I suffer from hypothyroid symptoms (low body temp, fatigue, dry eyes, hair loss, depression, etc.). She ended up only testing 2 thyroid values (TSH and Free T4). No T3, no reverse T3, no antibodies. My values were normal and she preemptively told me that she would not treat me if the values were within range. This practice is antiquated and unhelpful.

Front office doesn't flow smoothly. typically uses a separate person to make an apt and another to charge the Copay. Not efficient process. Dr. Rao largely won't communicate to you regarding what she would like to see. Very disappointing from a care-provider. A good Doctor listens to the individuals, calculates the needs and progresses with a plan until you meet agin. She is too soft-spoken to be effective in this manner.
