Did successfull elbow surgery after another doctor said I wasn’t a candidate for surgery. He is treating me now for a shoulder issue. He and his assistant are the best.

First visit...kept waiting way too long. Was there for cortisone shot in my knee. He administered it. Painless. Felt much better within days. Second visit...long wait again. P.A. asked whether I would agree for her to give the cortisone shot. It hurt as she administered it and it never helped with the pain in my knee. Wasted time and money.

Dr. Smith fully lived up to the excellent recommendations that led me to him in the first place. My biggest complaint about some doctors is that they do not do a good job of answering questions or explaining things. Dr. Smith was a great exception and simply did a marvelous job of explaining everything in layman‘s terms.

Superb orthopedic specialist. Best, by far, that I've encountered in the Richmond area. He discovered and prescribed treatment for an issue that two other "prominent" orthopedic specialists "missed." Will definitely return if/when I need further orthopedic care.

This visit was a return for pain that was treated years ago. Dr. Smith took the time to tell me what it wasn’t coming from and how we would proceed to find the cause and treat it. The pain may never fully go away due to the repeated injuries to the same joint. An injection and some excel uses and we shall see.

My husband and have been going to Dr. Smith for years and I also work with him at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital when I was the Director of Patient Advocacy Services. He is an excellent Surgeon, caring, compassionate and takes time with his patients. My husband has had both knees replaced and I have had one. As the Director of Patient Advocacy Services for 15 years we NEVER had a complaint/concern expressed about Dr. Smith.
