    Nature of Complaint: Plaintiff underwent anterior cervical decompression and fusion at the C4-5 and C5-6 levels with a bone graft and fixation with a Synthes plate. Infection developed, likely caused by a perforation in the esophagus. The plaintiff underwent several surgeries to address the infection, including removal of the hardware and placement of a halo brace. Plaintiff claimed the hardware had been misapplied, causing a microscopic perforation, and the infection was not timely addressed.
