Dr. Askew was possibly the most unfeeling, cold and uninformative surgeon we could have ever asked for. My husband had open heart triple bypass done over Christmas of this year. He developed an infection in his incision, which Askew said needed an exploratory surgery for, along with a wash to clear up infection. I was promised a consult post surgery either in person or over the phone to find out how extensive the infection was. He never communicated with me after the surgery. Nurses on my husband’s floor tried to investigate for some results for me and based on what they heard, they concluded the infection was “superficial”. We were overjoyed and on this happy high about this infection being resolved and my husband getting to finally go home after two weeks of hospitalization. I assumed no communication was a good sign that things went best case scenario. Our hopes were crushed the following morning when his Physicians Assistant , NOT ASKEW, came to my husbands room and told us that th

Dr Askew, with perfection, performed my aortic valve replacement surgery and aortic aneurysm repair at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. It was a terrific success. I had no complications. I carefully shopped for a surgeon and chose Dr Askew. I believe that Dr. Askew is a world-class heart surgeon, especially for valve repair and aorta aneurysm repair. While receiving care, two separate hospital clinical staff members told me they picked Dr Askew to be the surgeon for a parent's valve surgery.
