Dr. Juan Rocca, MD

Dr. Juan Rocca completed his medical degree with honors at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. He received his surgical training at the British Hospital of Buenos Aires and became board certified in General Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery. He came to the US, in 2005, to complete a Research and Clinical Fellowship in Transplant Surgery at Westchester Medical Center in New York, achieving certification by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He subsequently completed a second transplant fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he developed laparoscopic techniques for liver surgery, living donor liver & kidney transplantation, and pancreas transplantation. Dr. Rocca spent his first 5 years as an attending transplant surgeon at the Recanati/Miller Transplant Institute/Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, performing liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation and became director of the living donor kidney program in 2010. Dr. Rocca was recruited by Montefiore Medical Center in February 2014 as director of the living donor kidney transplant program. Since July 2015, Dr Rocca has also been appointed as the surgical director of the kidney and pancreas transplant program. Dr. Rocca currently performs laparoscopic and open hepatobiliary surgery for benign and malignant tumors, living organ donation surgery and transplantation surgery of the liver, kidney and pancreas.
