Dr. Hughes performed a rather complicated revision of a previous back fusion of the lumbar approximately two years ago. He was always so kind considerate and did not make me feel so clinical. He took the time to go through my options and decide. He didn’t waste my time with needless appointments and was very skilled Even though I live in Iowa I will travel to see him, I’m confident in his knowledge, skills, and ability to understand and care.

Dr. Hughes is compassionate and skilled. He always makes time for my daughter's complicated case, even calling to schedule up a follow-up MRI (after surgery) while he was on vacation. He carefully handled my daughter's case of meningitis (requiring VP shunt) and not only made time for us, facilitating timely appointments, but did a great job coordinating care with her neuro-opthamologist, neurologist and infectious disease specialist. We trust him completely.

I didn't feel he knew much about my condition. He said he didn't have time to read medical notes as he would be reading all day. He was unsure about which cervical would cause numbness in hand. I felt I wasted my time with him. He rated in the top worst doctors in my book. I would never consider having any surgery with him.
