Dr. Bales is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery. While training at UCLA, he cared for a broad spectrum of patients from UCLA athletes to children at the Shriners' hospital. He continued his training in Cincinnati with Dr. Peter Stern concentrating on all aspects of hand, wrist, and elbow surgery, including arthroscopy and microsurgery in patients of all ages.
Dr. Bales has contributed to the science of hand surgery through journal articles and presentations at national medical conferences. He is particularly interested in traumatic injuries of the upper extremity including those related to sports and industry. Additionally, he specializes in compressive neuropathies such as carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome. Dr. Bales enjoys seeing each patient's quality of life improve with treatment, both with conservative treatment and with surgery when necessary.
