Dr OBrien literally saved my life, I had a spinal abscess, and was in very serious condition. It paralized me from the neck down. He immediately did surgery and I will never let another spinal Dr. treat me, he is understanding of my fears and reassuring. If I could give him 6 stars I would....

Dr. O'Brien lied about what he was going to do in the OR. He did an approach which has caused nerve damage and he has hurt me and left me in tremendous pain. He could care less now that he was paid for the surgery. Other opinions confirm that what O'Brien did was wrong. Plus he does not want to deal with anything that is wrong. He just ignores you.

Dr. O'brien listened, understood how complicated my history was (3 prior back surgeries for the same herniated disc), reviewed my entire chart that I brought, copied all the documents he needed and also the discs. He took a non traditional approach; going through my stomach which is non traditional but did not have to go through the back and possibly injuring my spinal chord even further. After living in pain from 2010 through October 2016, he CURED ME. NO pain, no spasms, cramps, and can walk

Went to Dr O'Brien suffering from herniated disk in lower back, causing extreme pain in left leg and buttocks. I drive cement-mixer and the pills and injections were no longer working. Dr O'Brien reviewed MRI and told me how he could solve this problem. After getting 2nd opinion and a lot of prayer, I decided to go with Dr O'Brien advice and get micro discectomy. His manner and knowledge were very comforting. His staff was very patient, never rude. After 6 weeks I'm back at work. Excellent !

Dr. O'Brien and his direct team define the standard of care. While their expertise and professionalism are unquestionable, the personal attention and quite frankly hand-holding for worry-prone patients like me are reassuring and very welcome in the otherwise "bottom line" focused healthcare environment where patients often feel like cattle. I've seen multiple surgeons in the D.C. Area, but none have met my needs or gained my trust like Dr. O'Brien's team.

Nine weeks ago Dr. O'Brien performed a partial laminectomy on my L4/L5. Prior to the surgery I had excruciating pain through my lumbar region and legs. It was to the point where I could not sit or lay flat without agony. I am so happy to report that I walked out of the hospital the day of the surgery PAIN FREE and I am still pain free. I haven't felt this good in years. Thank you, Dr. O'Brien for giving me back a quality lifestyle!
