Dr. Iskandar received his D.O. from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010 with honors. He was the recipient of several awards, including the Translating Osteopathic Understanding into Community Health (TOUCH) Award, the Health Focus of Southwest Virginia Scholarship, and the Distinguished Student Scholar Award in Psychiatry. Dr. Iskandar then began a general psychiatry residency at Virginia Tech-Carilion School of Medicine (VTC), followed by a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship. He received multiples award including Top Hat Award from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Practice Based Learning Award and Fellow of the Year Award from VTC. Dr. Iskandar has had articles published in leading professional journals including The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, Journalof Clinical Psychopharmacology, Primary Care Companion for CNS Disorders, General Hospital Psychiatry, Annals of Pharmacotherapy, and others. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, Primary Care Companion for CNS Disorders, and British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.Dr. Iskandar is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, and the Psychiatric Society of Virginia. He is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
