Dr. Cheatle was very friendly and professional and explained everything to me in detail. Staff was also friendly. Wait time for appointment was minimal. Office is conveniently located in the Ballantyne area with lots of parking. I would definitely recommend him and his office staff.

Dr Cheatle performed spinal surgery on me in 2016. I actually woke up in recovery pain free. I had been in pain for 13 years prior to this surgery. I have praised his talents and knowledge since. As a nurse, I also cared for his patients post operatively. He is a very skilled and talented neurosurgeon. I would recommend his services to anyone in need.

It was horrible! He screwed up my surgery causing a second surgery to remove part of vertebrae because he was at my spinal cord now! He never came to see me and he has a nurse talk to you instead of him at office follow up. At 2nd surgery same thing happens and surgery went terrible. He refused to see me after surgery and left me no after care. He refused again to see me at office until I said I wasn’t leaving. He treated me like a criminal. I’m suffering terrible effects years later. He is the worst surgeon and person on the planet!

Seems to be two threads here in reviews. Dr Cheatle operated on my husband on an emergency basis. Move surgery to an earlier time and never contacted me. After the surgery he was no where to be found. Never contacted me once. Next time I saw him was two weeks later (after 1 week in intensive care and one more week in the hospital) was to discharge him. Wrote a letter to the hospital and he refuted every thing I said. The hospital could only listen but not do any thing. I just hope the back surgery holds.

My experience? One word sums it up, NIGHTMARE!! I wish there were negative stars. BEWARE! I’ve had 2, and will require another 2-3 surgeries to correct what this ‘surgeon’ has done to me. There’s a difference between a mistake and pure ignorance. I have spent a week in critical care to boot. This man needs to be stopped before he kills someone. I have already heard about multiple other people he has put through similar situation. I would not suggest anyone who wants to live to trust this man. Formal complaints have been logged, and now he’s suddenly ‘moving’ yet he’s still cutting open others. Praying for those who trust him as I FOOLISHLY did. BEWARE!!!!!

Dr Cheatle did a shunt surgery on me for an arachnoid cyst on my brain. 7 weeks post OP and I had to beg to see him ( I was in intense pain)! When he FINALLY saw me, he swore at me and my husband and said that I was fine. I left and went to Wilmington where I was admitted and emergency surgery done, as my shunt had come undone and my head was filling with spinal fluid! I woke up in ICU as I also hemmoraged. I now have a metal plate in my head and numerous other problems thanks to Dr Cheatle! The Neuro team at Wilmington told me that I literally would have been dead if I would have waited another 3 hours to be seen. Worst experience of my life!!! Lost my job, and to boot, Dr Cheatle never even inquired to see what ever happened to me! If you need a neurosurgeon go to Wilmington or Charlotte!!!

One of the best in the field. He was genuinely concerned about my medical care. He listened to all my concerns and explained everything in the easiest way to understand. He truly goes out of his way to make sure you get exactly what you need. He only gives you the care you need not just a generic formula for every patient. Would recommend him to anyone anytime.

The initial wait to get into see him and schedule surgery was a few months but worth it I had some some unforseen circumstances that occurred. I had a thin Dura which required a patch and also obtained an infection so going with the best paid off. Dr. Cheatle stopped to speak with me every day I was in the hospital. Which over a three-week period of time was quite a bit. He kept me informed on my condition and the plan of attack Very good Dr with a heart of gold.

I highly recommend anyone who needs neurosurgery to see Dr. Cheatle. He is top in his field in my opinion. He is professional, kind and caring. He takes the time to explain what needs to be done and answers any questions you have without rushing you out of the office he gives you the time you need, unlike some Doctors who always seem to be in a hurry to get to the next patient. His staff is very helpful and always pleasant.

I have to give Dr. Cheatle all five stars and even more if they were available! In 2015 I began having great lower back pain along with leg pain and numbness. Dr. Cheatle performed the lumbar stenosis surgery and I immediately was relieved of the pain and numbness. I strongly recommend Dr. Cheatle to all who need an excellent neurosurgeon.
