Dr. Jorge Echeverri has been a family practice physician for close to 25 years. Raised in Colombia in South America, Dr. Echeverri always knew he wanted to pursue a career in medicine. When Dr. Echeverri was young his father worked as a representative for pharmaceutical companies, and his uncle was an internal medicine physician. Now Dr. Echeverri, his brother, and his sister all work in medicine, and his niece is a pediatrician who practices in Florida. Dr. Echeverri loves to practice family medicine, and is always happy to share what he knows with patients. Dr. Echeverri completed medical school in Colombia in 1983 and worked in the countryside after graduating before coming to the United States to complete his residency. In 1994, while working in at Texas Tech, Dr. Echeverri received the Outstanding Senior Residence and the James D. Jett Memorial Awards. After graduating, Dr. Echeverri returned to California where he began his work as a family practice doctor. Though both his uncle and his brother are internal medicine doctors, Dr. Echeverri felt drawn to family practice because it applies a broader spectrum of learning. He loves to help families, and to share what he knows about the human body in all its dimensions. Dr. Echeverri is married with two children. He met his wife when he was a student at the Universidad de Antioquia medical school in Colombia. He loves to go camping, and enjoys jet skiing and scuba diving.
