Conditions Treated

Dr. Doherty says..

I have been practicing exclusively in otology (treating diseases of the ear) since completion of my fellowship training at the House Clinic in Los Angeles in 2006. I served on the Otolaryngology faculty at UCSD for four years as the Director of Neurotology, teaching medical students, residents & fellows, prior to moving my practice to Orange County.

I am involved in research of hearing and ear disease at the House Temporal Bone Laboratory at UCLA, and I regularly attend and speak at academic conferences in my field. I also serve as a journal reviewer for three of the leading clinical and scientific journals in my field and am on the editorial board for Otology & Neurotolgy Journal. Attending these academic conferences and reading current journal articles for my field keeps me constantly updated on the newest treatments and techniques.

Procedures Performed

Dr. Doherty says..

With two office locations in coastal Southern California, I have abundant experience in minimally invasive surgical treatment of surfer's ear (exostoses of the external auditory canal) and many other problems involving the ear. I use endoscopy in many ear surgeries to ensure the correct diagnosis and complete eradication of ear diseases, such as cholesteatoma.

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
