I had replacement surgery on my left shoulder after a dislocation. Ever since it has been super painful even after 4 months of physical therapy. He is very short with you and basically told me it didn't take and bone is rubbing on bone and the only true fix would be to have the surgery re-done. Maybe, but not by you.

I broke my humerus and the emergency room recommended I see Dr. Chappell. When he told me I needed surgery I told him that petrified me. When he referred to me as 58 years young and not 85 years old and told me I would want full use of my arm for the rest of my life I immediately felt like surgery was the only way to go. I cannot be more satisfied with the results. Between Dr. Chappell's bedside manor, a 72 hour pain block, and an excellent team of physical therapists, I am well on my way to 100% healing. Thanks you all for your wonderful care!

Dr. Chappell got me back to normal from a torn ACL and MCL. The experience was outstanding. All my questions answered patiently, my concerns addressed and, most importantly, my knee feels great now! Also, the Physical Therapy has been another great experience, Jennifer and Kim were both excellent to get me back on my feet (and then back to running). I am looking forward to test my knee back on ski next year. I can’t thank enough to Dr. Chappell.

I was dissatisfied with the previous local provider and researched specific shoulder treatment and found Dr. Chappell. I met with him and was impressed with his bed side manner, focus on treating the injury and promptness to schedule treatment. The shoulder surgery went amazing well and the PT/follow up appointments did not disappoint. Amazing service, safety and care during this Covid time.

From my first encounter with Dr. Chappell at Wake Med, Cary to my release from his care, I have only good things to say about him and his ability! I had a fall, broke a collar bone and was taken to the ER.....after x-rays, I was seen by Dr. Chappell(did not know of him...he was "on duty") and he explained my injury.....he wanted to wait a short while to see if the bones would reposition themselves for good healing and thus avoid surgery. Alas, the bones did not cooperate! Then Dr. Chappell showed me the xrays, explained two options I had for healing and let me make the choice. He said he could "fix" my break, which would speed up recovery time and be less painful than letting Mother Nature do the healing. I chose surgery...duh!!! Wake Med Raleigh was where the surgery was done....Everything has gone so well, had no pain following surgery, with PT and now 10 weeks out, I'm released to do anything within reason. Dr. Chappell has be thourough, patient, and skilled in all aspects of my c

Being new to the area, I had to search for an orthopedic surgeon for a recurring shoulder problem. I certainly hit the jackpot with Dr. Chappell. He was thorough in his explanations of my problem and the solutions. My surgery went extremely well and I couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend Dr Chappell and will certainly go back to him should I have another problem.

Dr. Chappell has been my hero. He is a wonderful surgeon. I fell in July and broken my shoulder and arm and went to a different Orthopedic doctor, he put a pin and screws and never did the test needed to see the correct injuries I had to my shoulder and arm. I was in pain for months and on pain medication for weeks and never had the range of motion I needed to continue a normal life without pain. I got Dr. Chappell's information from my Sister in law and he saw me and did a Cat Scan and was able to tell that a shoulder replacement was the best way to go. He did the surgery on December 5, 2019 and I had pain only a few days and it was not severe and I was off pain medication within a couple of days. I admire Dr. Chappell because I sent my records for a 2nd opinion to two other doctors and they would not touch me because I had a mess, I will always be grateful to Dr. Chappell for being brave enough for taking me as a patient and fixing my shoulder & arm. He is the only one I would go to.

If you are wanting the absolute best, Jonathan Chappell is the orthopedic surgeon you are looking for. He performed a total shoulder replacement for me, that in my eyes, has truly been a miracle. I have gone from severe pain and limited range of motion to a state of being pain free, with full range of motion. The best thing of all, he's a nice guy. I have nothing but accolades for this man and I thank him from the bottom of my heart for restoring my life. Thanks again!!!!!!!

I absolutely love Dr. Chappell! His dry sense of humor and fantastic sarcasm made me feel right at home. He also has great taste in socks. He performed 2 rotator cuff surgeries and recently a 3rd total reverse shoulder; all on right shoulder. I’m 10 weeks out now and I’m feeling better than I have in over 3 years. I’ve still got a long road ahead, but confident in my recovery. Dr. Chappell is a painfully beautiful blessing.

This is something I never do, but I wanted everyone to know what Dr. Chapell has done for me. My first shoulder surgery was November of 2018. Dr. Chapell did not do the first surgery. Needless to say, nothing went well with it. I was then referred to Dr. Chapell by a friend for the second surgery. The second surgery was to correct the issues and concerns from the first surgery. I was surprised when I woke up in recovery and was told the surgery couldn’t not be completed as planned, due to an infection in my shoulder and that I needed a pic line, in the other arm that ran to my heat, for six weeks for antibiotic treatments. For those six weeks, each day was frustrating, knowing that I was going to have a third surgery on my shoulder once the infection was cleared and that I had antibiotic spacer placed in my affect shoulder with very limited movement, in addition to the day to day hardships brought on by this. Once the infection cleared, Dr. Chapell did my third surgery. Recovery has be

After dealing with shoulder pain for years, Dr. Chappell suggested shoulder replacement when all other options did not work. 9 weeks after the surgery pain is virtually gone. Would highly recommended Dr. Chappell if you have shoulder pain.

Dr. Chappell repaired my rotator cuff without a hitch and added it was the worst and hardest he had ever done. 17 months later I tore it again and he had to put a reverse shoulder in. Again, it went without as hitch. It is slow recovery with a reverse but the prognosis is great. I think the world of Dr. Chappell. He is personable and takes time to make sure you have all the answers for a speedy recovery.

After a bad break (my humerus broke off at the shoulder) I never dreamed that the recovery would be as fast and relatively easy as it turned out to be. Dr. Chappell performed the surgery and I immediately felt confident that my arm was fixed. Never needed pain meds. Dr. Chappell is a friendly, helpful doctor, always answered my questions and encouraged me to move ahead and get back to swimming and exercising. I highly recommend him!
